Use of Gemstones to Boost Psychic Abilities

!±8± Use of Gemstones to Boost Psychic Abilities

There are many crystals, gemstones and minerals that are considered very helpful to enhance the psychic abilities of the person. The healing powers of the gemstones are an open secret and different gemstones have been used for spiritual healing and for the treatment of mental diseases for centuries. There was a time when spiritual healers seemed to heal different mental and physical disorders with the help of different gemstones and minerals and now with the passage of time when this believe in the healing effects of the gemstones should have been decreased, the things seem to act contrarily and once again people are moving towards the spiritual healings that is offered by different means including gemstones.

According to an estimate more than three million people still believe in the healing powers of different gemstones in the US. Similarly, in some European countries the trends to utilizing gemstones for their associated healing effects are emerging once again.

In this age of science and technology, humans have made great progress and they have brought a lot of revolutionary changes in their lives with the help of science and technology. But at the same time, this fast and rapid progress in the field of science and technology has become the cause to deprive humans from the peace of mind and tranquility. They found themselves in a perpetual restlessness and they really need someone help to get rid of their worries and tensions. They contact different psychics and spiritual healers to get rid of their worries and tensions. These psychic and spiritual healers apply different methods to treat these people and the use of gemstones is one of these applied methods.

Let's talk about some such gemstones as are used by the psychic to enhance their psychic ability.

Agate, Amethyst Angelite, Andalusite, Apatite, Azurite, Chrysocolla, Coral, Emerald, Howlite, Iolite, Kyanite, Labradorite, Lapis lazuli, Moonstone, Obsidian Sapphire and Sugilite are some of those gemstones that psychics use to enhance their psychic ability. The users of these gemstones believe that they help to give them strength and power and they find the hurdles of their way easily removed because of the healing powers of these gemstones.

These psychics also believe that sometimes, these stones also react in a negative way and emit harmful rays that seem to cast bad impact on the psychic abilities of the psychics. They say in this connection that mostly it happens when the psychics do not take care of the cleanliness of their gemstones. Dirt and other stuff that cling to the surface of these gemstones disturb the flow of rays that these gemstones emit. Thus, it becomes very difficult for the psychic to handle these situations that occur because of their gemstone's negative impact.

Andalusite - The Unknown Star

!±8± Andalusite - The Unknown Star

Andalusite is a beautiful semi-precious gemstone with a diverse and changeable personality. It is often used in art objects and jewelry. Andalusite was first discovered in Andalucia, Southern Spain from which it gets its name.

There are some good reasons for its artistic popularity. Andalusite is known for its pleochroism. Pleochroic minerals reflect different colors resulting from the absorption of different wavelengths of light traveling through the crystal from different directions. Mother Nature produces andalusite in brown, green, red, yellow, greenish-brown and brownish-green. Other gemstones that share pleochroic characteristic include carletonite, elbaite, iolite, kunzite, tanzanite and zoisite.

Asterism is another light effect that occurs in some gemstones. Some andalusites benefit from this phenomenon. The Greek word aster means star. When some crystal gemstones are formed, minute needle-like mineral deposits form a star or cross shape in the gemstone. This variety of andalusite is called chiastolite and contains the dark mineral strips of carbon or clay, which form an X or cross. These andalusite gemstones are sometimes used in the creation of inspirational items and jewelry. Check out tigereyejewels.com to see a magnificent multi-gemstone Rosary featuring andalusite. Star Sapphires, star rubies and star rose quartz are all the result of asterism.

Another gemstone effect that is similar to asterism is called cat's eyes. It is caused by the same inclusion of minute mineral crystals imbedded in gemstones and reflecting light. However, with the cat's eye affect the imbedded mineral shimmers from top to bottom. Andalusite is one of the most common cat's eye stones. The cat's eye effect is also known as the chatayancy, which comes from the French word for cat (chat - pronounced, shot).

Relating cats to gemstones is an ancient trend that we still enjoy today. Tiger eye gemstone has been popular since ancient times and just as andalusite has its particular beauty expressed in terms of cats. You can see the two gemstones elegantly combined at tigereyejewels.com.

Rare Things You Can Find on a Jewelry Blog

!±8± Rare Things You Can Find on a Jewelry Blog

Jewelry blogs contain all the information you need on jewelry. You might wonder what kind of information you might need, but the truth is that there are a lot of things you don't know about the art involved and the material used in different pieces.

The first thing you can do is to get information on the current trends and fashion. New seasons bring new trends. Sometimes big pop pieces are in fashion and other seasons simple and delicate is the trend. So if you are the kind of person that follows fashion trends, in a jewelry blog you can get all the information first. You can also get information about collections that are not in stores yet, but the great fashion houses have already presented them in fashion shows.

Jewelry blogs are also a great place to get offers. There are many fashion houses that make offers by using this method and these offers are really something you have to take advantage of. You have the chance to get these offers that sometimes can reach 50% off of the real value of the piece and you can also get free shipping. Apart from that there are a number of designers that come from big companies that design exclusively for jewelry blogs. These online exclusive pieces are ideal for any occasion. You can get pieces that are limited in number and have this extra value. It is a very good way to buy something that a few people will have and at a very good price.

One other great thing on jewelry blogs is the fact that they have a huge variety on pieces. This means that you can get the latest on classical pieces, new trends, gift ideas and even pieces inspired from a certain season for example the seventies or fifties. The best part is that the pieces will be new and are stored in ideal conditions and they also come with care instructions. You can get feedback and answer all your questions online before you make a purchase and be sure that you will be satisfied. If not, you can also get refund as most of them have great refund policies. However, these occasions are few as there are rarely any problems faced. So you can check the product and be certain of your choice.

Some of the things you can find are pieces on gold, sterling silver, pearls and other classical material used in manufacturing great pieces. But the great thing is that there is also a variety of stones, rare materials like iolite or amber, natural materials such as sea shells and wood and many expensive pieces for example coral necklaces. The last thing you should keep in mind is the fact that there is absolutely nothing that will be considered unable. All of your ideas may already exist here. There are even lines of pieces made of frosted fruits, including frosted raspberry earrings and strawberry necklaces. These pieces are in fact made of real fruit and are ideal for children.

Jewelry Trends 2010 - Spring Colors and Gems

!±8± Jewelry Trends 2010 - Spring Colors and Gems

The spring colors are going to make an impact very soon. Making sure that the gemstones worked into your jewelry match up to the up and coming spring clothing lines. Most exciting for me are the purple based pastels that are due to have a major impact with styles this spring. What kind of gemstones are you incorporating into your line this year?

Soft violet is exciting for the various gem combinations available to every kind of jewelry artist. This opens up the magic of working with Tanzanite if you can get it, or Iolite if your looking for something cheaper. I love a variety of unique soft violet stones including my favorite, Charoite. This gem from Russia has so much flavor and is fairly easy to carve and shape. Wirewrapping Charoite cabs is fun and is an exact match to the Pantene Violet #16-3320 that is predicted to be big draw this Spring.

Turquoise as a color opens up working with Turquoise as a gemstone this Spring. Aquamarine is a strong choice for this match as well if that's part of your gem line, but London Topaz is an inexpensive alternative to this pricey gem. Tourmaline is a very versatile gem when matching up to the Spring collections because of the tone variety available of each of the different colors.

Yellow, of course, is the essence of Spring and Citrine and Amber will be leading the pack for up front designs with that sunny day appeal. If you have never worked with Amber before, it will be new experience but the rewards are great. I have friends that sell only Amber exclusively and their sales equal that of a mainstream jewelry outlet. Whatever gems you are working with, educate yourself on the Pantene Spring colors and you'll have a winning piece every time.

Iolite - A Gemstone Used in Ancient Navigation

!±8± Iolite - A Gemstone Used in Ancient Navigation

A stupendous stone in my opinion! Its colours range from yellowish grey all the way through to the most magnificent deep blues and violet and that is the colour which particularly mesmerizes me. It is often confused with sapphires and tanzanites. It is plentiful and relatively inexpensive but do not write off its high gemstone quality.

It is found in Switzerland, Germany, Scandinavia, the USA, Sri Lanka, India and Australia as well as many African states. It is also called cordierite.

Iolite comes from the Greek "ios" meaning violet. It was also called diochroite another Greek word which means "two coloured" stone.

On the Moh's scale used for measuring hardness with diamond being the highest at 10 Iolite comes in at 7-7.5 which means it is about mid range for your usual high quality gemstones. That is significant as it will chip and scratch but will also stand up to normal wear and tear. It seems that it is one of the few stones that is not treated or enhanced. For reference, something like ninety percent of all rubies are heat treated and many other stones such as topaz are irradiated.

The Vikings knew about as it was found in Scandinavia. They knew a secret about iolite which may have changed the course of history. They used it as a navigation tool. By looking through the crystal they could see the direction of the sun on overcast days. This was a function of its pleochroism which means that it changes colour when you look at it from different angles. To understand that better imagine that you can hold it and look at a magnificent deep blue and just by turning it around the colour stars to disappear until you cannot see any colour at all! This is pleochroism and iolite has pronounced pleochroism.

It is a cutters' nightmare. Well, at least it is not an easy stone to cut and get the most from even though it can be cut into the standard facet cuts such as emerald, marquise, trillion and can also be made into beautiful cabochons.

As the carat size increases iolite generally gets darker and less attractive. The smaller stones are often the most attractive. The lighter blues and greys are less expensive with the richer the blue colour being the more expensive. It is not a birthstone and as a significant gemstone perhaps iolite's time has not come yet but it is getting more and more popular every day so expect to see it become very popular in coming years. I heartily recommend it to you. A yellow gold ring with diamonds and a central iolite is simply adorable.
